How do I move my I tunes database to my new PC? Is there a no hassle easy way to do it?

  1. To supplement the first answer, I recently moved a iTunes library between two Macs and everything went with it - including Playlists. Just make sure that drop across folders and files on a "like for like" basis (ie: same names, same location).

    Make sure that iTunes is closed when you do this, and then when you re-open the program it should spend a few seconds running around and picking up all the data, depending on how big your library is. Mine's about 40GB and it took several seconds!


  2. Copy the WHOLE iTunes folder in My Music to a external hard drive. This will include all librarys and music content.

    Then copy the iTunes music folder onto your new PC, then install iTunes,, open it and click, file, import folder, chose the folder and it will bring all your songs back in for you.

    May take some time importing all the songs, depending how many you have. I have done this before and worked perfectly. Can't remember if it saves playlists though, but it might of done.
