I make jewelry and I use the dining room table as my work station. Each night I have to clean it off for dinner. I figured I could use this old stand and be able to use the top to work on. It's on wheels and very compact so it's easy to move around and won't take up alot of space. I painted it red and need some ideas on what I could do to jazz it up a bit. My husband said to paint an American Flag on it which sounds like a good idea but I would like more input. I can draw very well so any idea thrown at me would be helpful.

I really don't have a set place to put this when it's finished. I think that wherever I am working on something at the time then that's where it will end up. I would really like to have a cartoon image of a young boy, little sister and small baby holding an American Flag. (represents my kids) I thought maybe that would be a nice picture to paint on the sides. I need an image to look at though.

  1. I think it would be neat if you bought a magazine, something with these kinds of images (maybe Parenting, or Better homes and Gardens for example) and glue a picture that you find that you like right in the center of the top, then paint some images i.e. flags, flowers, kids, as details arond the picture and on the table legs. Then paint shellac (can be found in a store that carries paint or a craft store) over the whole table to protect the images and give it a nice shiney look. Or you could find photos that you might have extras of and make a collage, and shellac over that, you could even paint an american flag as the background. I'm assuming that you do beading-type projects as opposed to usind a torch on metal jewelry. Shellac would NOT be good to use if you're using heat or chemicals.
