The Shanghai Shenhua striker confirms that he turned down an offer from Paris Saint-Germain before agreeing to sign for the Chinese club.

with PSG for the third time in his career. Anelka previously represented the French side in the 1996-97 season and from 2000 to 2002.
The former French international spent four years at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 before tying knots with Shenhua. Anelka slipped down the pecking order of strikers at the Stamford Bridge with the arrival of Chelsea’s new boss, Andre Villas-Boas, last
year. The former Porto boss preferred http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 over the Frenchman, which prompted the 32-year-old to part ways with the four-time Premier League champions.
Anelka mentioned that he wanted to experience life abroad, and an offer from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, and he has already experienced it during
his long career.
While talking to sports magazine, Canal plus, the former Manchester City attacker further added:
"I was contacted by an intermediary of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Qatar-c2986 Investment Authority. I did not want to go to PSG because I had already played there. I know the French mentality. The people there would have worn me out. It did not interest me.”
While commenting on his transfer to the Chinese club, Anelka stated that he enjoys being in Shanghai, and usued to go there for vacations. He further confirmed that he intends to retire from professional football at the end of
his contract with Shenhua, having already given up on his international career after the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
"Shanghai is Asia's New York. I love the way they live. I often come here on vacation. This is my last contract," the striker concluded.
Anelka made 125 league appearances for Chelsea during his four-year stay, which is the most for any club by the striker. He netted 14 goals for France from 69 international caps before quitting two years back.
