Director General of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and former Test captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580, has revealed that he was offered to coach Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in past but he turned down the offers in the best interest of the nation.
Javed, 55, is considered to be one of the greatest cricketers produced by Pakistan in the last 65 years and was an integral part and vice-captain of the national team’s title triumph in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
He served the Green Shirts as the head coach thrice in the late 1990s till the mid-2000s. There was an evident improvement in the national side during all his tenures, but each time he was removed because of his indifferent relations with the senior players.
The legendary batsman however, has been attached to PCB since the last five years in one role or the other. Miandad expressed that he is loyal to the country and in order to serve Pakistan cricket, the former middle-order batsman rejected offers from other
countries.
"I got offers to coach from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh but I did not accept them because I wanted to do something for Pakistan cricket," Miandad said.
The Director General has been recently given additional responsibilities of supervising the country’s national cricket and also the international operations. Some other former cricketers like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zakir-Khan-c98546 will work under Miandad, who is optimistic
that all of them will work together smoothly for the betterment of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
The former cricketer from Karachi expressed that he shares good relations with Alam, who was Miandad’s first captain in the national team, and also with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319, who has played alongside the great batsman.
"There is no chance of any conflict over my being given these responsibilities as I will not interfere in anyone’s domain and work as a team," he added. "Intikhab is my senior as I started playing under him and I played together with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zakir-c98538 so I already have
a good understanding with them. All of us want to work for the same thing the improvement of Pakistan cricket."
