I understand BT vision boxes have to be connected to phone line .What happens if if phone line goes down.?

Would you be left with no TV or would the box still work.I'm thinking of getting it but need to know anawer to this first.

Does someone out there want to disconnect theirs from the phone line and let me know.

when the lines go down there is no phone service or tv service.
