I understand Zap e vehicles are made in China?

I looked at the zap site ref electric vehicles and almost if not all of them are made in China In Wuxi and Nearby Provinces.

They have been on show at recent trade shows over in China.

  1. ZAP formed a joint venture with Shandong Jindalu Vehicle Company Ltd.( of China)the manufacturer of the XEBRA electric micro-car which ZAP imports—in 2006. The joint venture involves the design and manufacture of a new generation of low-cost advanced transportation vehicles that run efficiently on gas, electricity, ethanol and other unspecified advanced technologies and fuels.


  2. yea your right and its a good thing because if america itself cant make an effort to improve battery technology drastically then i think China is a better candidate for production of EVs

  3. Yes, in fact most of the electric vehicles currently in production are made in China.  Another example is the EVs made by Miles Automotive.

    China has the battery technology, the manufacturing facilities, and the cheap labor.  The only way a small EV company can make affordable cars right now is to make them in China, unfortunately.
