I understand it was a crappy tire, but dont we think that after 2 or 3 competition cautions, that the teams were smart enough to bring thier drivers in on thier own instead of needing nascar to decide it for them. aint that part of racing--deciding when to pit?

  1. I guess NASCAR figured since they were the ones that screwed up (not allowing testing) it would be like punishing the team owners to let them wreck every 10 laps.

  2. NASCAR was just trying to keep things fair and safe for all cars.  Those who would push it just one more lap for position or whatever might have pushed it one lap too far and had a horrible pile up on the track.  Example:  Did you see Kenseth when he had that blow out?

    Go Jr.>>>>

  3. It would of made for a lot better show!

  4. Hey, I think it was a GREAT idea!

Why doesn't NASCAR do this for EVERY race?  Then you have a "fair and balanced" race EVERY time!!!  I mean, it's just not FAIR that one team might make a bad call, or have bad equipment or whatever... this way, the crew chiefs don't even have to worry about whether or not to call the driver in... and hey, no worries about ANYONE ever running out of GAS!!!

Now isn't that the most FAIREST thing you can think of?

Why stop at a restricter plate?  Go for controlling the PIT STOPS too!

<wyomugs sops up the sarcasm that's dripping all around her>

    GOOOOOOOOOOOOO J Gordon!

  5. im with you

especially on that last one that should not have been a competition caution with 10 to go they should let'em go or blow

i've never said this but nascar sucked at indy

  6. I listened to many drivers on my scanner on Sunday, and the drivers knew something was up with the tires long before they threw even the first caution.

  7. no they had to keep throwing competition cautions for the safety of everybody else otherwise people like montoya and kyle bush would have been out there on 20 lap old tires and killed somebody.

nascar needs to get rid of goodyear tires and switch to somebody else.  i dont know what company but obviously goodyear isnt smart enough to get it right yet.  every year it gets worse and worse and now with the new car it has gotten a ton worse.  they need a change!!!

  8. That was the only way to slow Kyle Busch down...

  9. Most of the times a driver can feel the tire going down before it goes flat. Some drivers aren't as good about being able to sense when their tires are going down. Also some drivers said that the tires gave no warning but just blew and they wrecked and tore their cars up.

NASCAR was mainly monitoring the tires to see if as the race went along and rubber was left on the track would the tire wear less. It never got better so they continued with the competition cautions.

I think it was great because NASCAR saved teams from tearing up a lot of more cars. It could have been a wreck fest. That would have been worse than the race to have only about 3 cars left in the race at the end.

  10. I blame Nascar, not Goodyear.  Nascar is calling the shots and no one else.  They are accountable for what happens.  If the race had been let go without the cautions, teams would have pushed the issue and somebody could have been hurt.  That would have been a worse scenario than what took place.

  11. Then several idiots would have pushed it and caused more than a competition caution.....................Nascar was just covering their rears............
