I use this handycam to record some video footages of Music videos, but the image wont come out the way the music videos do on Television. So is it the camcorder or is it the editing software?, what could it be?

  1. Are you saying you recorded the image that was on a TV screen?

The HDR-SR5 is a hard drive based high-def camcorder that uses AVCHD to compress hi-def video.

AVCHD compresses a lot. Compressed video means lost data. Lost data means poor video quality.

If you captured video of bands and are expecting that video to look like MTV videos, you need to know that pretty much none of the videos on TV use consumer camcorders with internal hard drive or flash memory or DVD storage.

They use studio cameras that feed into a huge console that stores onto digital tape. Some times they use camcorders - but they are all tape based... The music videos I've shot and edited used Panasonic DVX100B, Panasonic HVX200, Sony HVR-V1U, Sony HVR-Z1U, Canon XL2 or Canon XHA1 camera. I know that the Sony DVCAM series and HDCAM series are commonly used, too.

You normally won't find these cameras at BestBuy or other regular electronics outlets.
