  1. There used to be a product called bluing that you would add to your laundry to counteract yellowing of white fabrics.  It added a very slight blue tint, which countered the yellow.  The net result is not white, but very very light gray which looks white unless it's put next to something whiter.

This, by the way, is also where the stereotype of the blue-haired old lady comes from.  It used to be common for older women with white hair that had a yellow tinge to get a light blue wash to correct it.  If they went too far with it, their hair would look blue.  You don't see that very much any more because now women just dye their hair to brown or blonde or whatever until they die of old age.

  2. Any time you use chlorine bleach on anything but 100% cotton you will turn white clothes yellowish.  You need to use non chlorine bleach on synthetics..nylon, polyester, acrylic.  I have never been able to find any way to get rid of the yellow other than dye the object another color.

  3. You probably have iron in your water.  Get Ironout.  Use that about every four months when washing whites.  Put your whites in the wash, add Ironout and detergent, get the machine started then shut it off for an overnight soak.  In the morning turn it back on to finish the cycle.  Ironout removes the "rust" yellowing caused by iron in the water.  Bleach will make the yellowing worse.  Bleach causes "rust."

  4. You may be able to save it by putting it in the sunlight for a couple days -

  5. Chlorine bleach is for natural fibers only, not synthetic fibers like nylon, polyester, rayon, etc..

Chlorine bleach turns polyester yellow because yellow is polyester's normal color.

Chlorine bleach also weakens synthetic fibers... you'll find clothes made of synthetic fibers that've been bleached will start to shred, get little holes in 'em and unravel under the smallest strain. it's like a pair of cheap pantyhose... just pulling 'em on will cause a run or a rip. Grrrrr.

Other than by dying your now-yellow lingerie white again, you won't be able to get the yellow out.

Next time, use a NON-chlorine bleach if you must.

  6. Nope sorry. I hate when my clothes do that. It happens when you use too much bleach or bleach your whites to often. Try bleaching every other cycle.

  7. Soak and rewash it in glo white detergent or something similar ( whitener for clothes etc. )

  8. You must have iron in your water...probably well water?  If you do and you use bleach in your laundry you'll find that happens often....I bet you have a stained dishwasher too?

Try a product called "Iron Out"...   works like a charm.

    Good luck!

  10. You probably put too much bleach for the amount of water, and all you have to do is just rewash it, no bleach necessary this time! Hope I helped you out!

  11. Bras are made with delicate fabric.  Even if you get some of the yellow out of the nylon part of the fabric, the foam lining will remain yellow and show through some.  It may come out if it's an unlined COTTON bra.  Bras should never be bleached.  It wears down the fabric and will ruin them sooner than later.  You can try Rit Lightener or Oxi-Clean to see if it will work.  Good Luck!
