Question:

I used scott weed and feed?

A friend told me to fertilize to get the crabgrass out. I used Scott weed and feed. It was two weeks ago. I have been watering it good. It appears that mostly newer seed has wilted since I only seeded 3-4 weeks ago. Will it come back or should I re-seed in those wilted areas?

  1. You have to kill crabgrass in the early spring with scotts halts plus two.Not weed and feed.

  2. SMOKE THE WEED!

  3. The best time to fertilize is spring and fall.  The best time to plant grass seed is early fall.  You can use some sort of crab grass killer now but wait to seed until it is not so hot.  Grass wants to go dormant this time of the summer.  Crabgrass is an annual, so if you put down the preventer in early spring, you will be good for next summer.

  4. If I were you I'd weed kill the whole lawn to get rid of the crab grass, no other way, then reseed in fall.. Sorry to be brutal but it's the only way you're going to get that crab grass. Someone has been feeding you duff info.
