  1. download Norton Removal Tool

    http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsg...

  2. Use the tool that 'Linux' gives the link for.  I've been using norton for years and had no major hassles with it.  I use 'norton systemworks' but I wouldn't buy it off symantec.  I get it from e-bay, it's cheaper.  You can get an older version (brand new - unopened) which is just as good as the  latest as the anti-virus still has 12months upgrade.  If you use that removal tool you shouldn't have to search the registry for left-overs but if you're comfortable with using the registry, search it for symantec or norton entries and delete them - if you do find any.  I've done that and had no problems.

  3. I will tell norton is rubbish and makes your system very slow.

And u have mentioned symantex instead of symantec.

So, download a good Antivirus software like AVG 8 and update it regular intrevals.

  4. Go to norton's support site.  Look for the "Frequently Asked Questions"  The "uninstall" is ALWAYS in the top 10... ALWAYS... Norton WILL blow-up at some point, and instead of them fixing the problem, they create an un-installer to go through and clean up their mess...  Definitely the sign of VERY poorly designed software.
