I used to have 20/10 visual acuity, what percentile population may have this?

Past tense, when eyes were young (senior high school). Each eye tested, and both, just because i had developed some infection or conjuntivitis. My mother could not believe (she was at half distance with her glasses on and could not follow my reading (spelling), she thought I was bluffing... Eye Dr. corrected her, lol)

Not much later, during college/univ. started to blur... I was diagnosed short-sightedness and has remained pretty stable, only 1 change of glasses in many many years. Right is worst than left. I remembered this and just wanted to know how if it was common to have very good vision.

  1. I don't know what percentile of the population may have 20/15.

    Concerning your vision:

Was it 20/10 with one oye or with both?

Was it with glasses or without?

    Was it with contact lenses?

Was that for near or for distance?

Almost any adult can read the 20/15 line with the proper correction.  Many can see bettter than this.  We don't ordinarily present letters smaller than 20/20 or 20/15.

Most people see somewhat better than 20/15 unless there is something wrong.  This might mean reading one or two or more of the 20/10 letters.

If we were to do statistics on people we would certainly want to know if it was corrected or uncorrected vision we were dealing with.

Quite a few people are able to see 20/10 with hard lenses.

Hint: Snellen 20/20 letters are 8.9 mm tall at 20 feet.

20/10 letters are half that tall.

The question comes up, what can you see now without glasses?  What can you see with your best correction?

Why can't you see 20/10 now if you could before?
