and it's pretty much a built to house 1 car.Now i have enough land for other vehicals waiting to be serviced, any way for now i think i need a generater for temp, grinders, welding machines, air commpresers and so on,i thought about getting 2 of these for now, what do you think? Bad investment or smart to become established again? I can always sell them as soon as i'm all set up again.Thanks.

  1. Yes that's a bad investment 5550 watts isn't enough to run the size air compressor needed to paint cars.  A decent HVLP spray gun will use 11 to 17 CFM of air.   The compressor needed for that amount of air will draw more than that generator will handle.  Plus you need a lot of lights, exhuast fan(s) etc, etc.

You need to have an electric panel added to the garage.

You also mention the garage is built to a house. Is there power available?

If the house is in a residential neighborhood, and the neighbors report you, City Hall will shut you down mighty quick.  Be careful.

  2. Well a good compressor is 220v and is constantly running.Combine that fact and the price of gas and we won't meet in the poorhouse together.

Contact a licensed electrician and have him/her see if you couldn't run another/expand your panel.A direct answer would be I pick answer A.

    Bad Investment

    My Best

  3. I think i see what you are trying to do.

you need electricity to run the shop and if you need more than you can get from the electric company right now then i say get a generator or 2.

after all you need them to make any money at all.

as time goes on things will get better

    Good Luck to you.

  4. good luck man I'm trying to start a clothing company.

  5.       Why generators ? why not have the electric company hook you up, use the money you'd spend on generators to help start the business again ? two generators, with the price of gasoline and, the upkeep and maintenance, I don't think it's worth it.
