I entered a race in San Diego but everything went bad so it discouraged me to run. I just ran a mile the other day to see how much of "it" I still have. My current mile time is a 6:32, I know I need to train a bit more in order to get my old time back.

My question is how long would it normally take to get the time back (I know it's different for everyone) I used to run 4 days then rest one day and repeat. I stopped running for about half a year already.

  1. This was my first year doing track and I ran a 5:03, about where you were. It took me about a year to get there (summer xc practice, xc season, and track season)

  2. if you're still running and you want to get back to this time, it takes abaout a half year. Almost the same time you stopped running.

  3. idk how long but just run more miles a day so that wen you run a mile u wont get as tired and u will be alot faster cuz u wont be soooo dang tired

  4. If you have not been running for half a year and expect to run as well as you did before your injury, that is completely unrealistic.  I'd imagine it would be at least 3-4 months of consistent running to even be close to that time again.  It also depends how old you are, if you're older than 25, it might take longer than a few months.  Don't be discouraged, just take things step by step and see where that takes you!
