  1. why bother? after the WC you will continue "not standing" rugby. So why change for a short while at all?

  2. Most players don't know all the rules, you don't need to know all of them.

Always listen to the referee. He will often shout out what you should not be doing before you do it! If you dispute any decision, if there is even a peep out of you, he will take the ball another 10 meters into your territory.  Never argue.

You can run forward with the ball but you can only pass it backwards.  If you get it to the opponents try line you get 5 points.  The kicker then gets a chance to add another 2 with a conversion kick over the posts.

If there is an infringement of the rules the teams (forwards) scrum down and push for the ball.

If there is a foul, the kicker can opt to take a penalty kick for 3 points or the game restarts from where the foul occurred.

If the kicker gets the chance in open play he can kick the ball over the posts for a drop goal - thats  3 points

80 minutes for the game - note no injury time.

No gouging, biting, spitting.  You can punch your opponent as long as you grin and shake hands afterwards.

The team that scores the most points wins.

  3. the rules are simple but I cant be bothered, with less than a minute to go start cheering for the winning team (the team with more points) and other people will be none the wiser about whether you no the rules or not.

  4. you cant throw the ball forward you can only throw it backwards however you can kick the ball forwards

  5. Rugby is a great sport - they batter each other for 80 minutes then shake hands and have a laugh with each other.
