Question:

I usually follow a healthy + active lifestyle, "let go" last week and now have constipation?

I'm pretty sure it isn't linked to IBS.

I usually eat very healthily and exercise daily, since last Saturday (week yesterday) I have been eating junk, mainly because of lack of time. I had 2 take-aways and various "instant noodles", along with bags of crisps and chocolate bars.

I think I did about 45 minutes exercise in 7 days.

So, I had a BM on Friday, very painful and hadn't had one since the Sunday after I started eating junk food.

Earlier I had (sorry about this) the urge to "go", so I went, but nothing came out, I was straining quite badly but nothing came out, but I know something is "up there" ready to come out, even though I was straining a lot.

I am not in any discomfort, I am not bloated, don't have any abdominal pains.

My question is:

What do I eat to push out the stools (sorry!)?

If I increase my fibre intake now, will it make any different to the "waiting" stools, or will it just make future stools a lot softer?

Before last week, I had normal BM and went at least once every 2 days, which is normal for me.

Thanks.

  1. Try a gentle laxative using senna - it will work on what is already building up.

  2. Take warm water with some lemon or plane

    More fibers always helps

    follow following will helps u

Body mass index should be 20 for female & 25 for male maximum

    BMI= Weight in kilogram/ (Height in Meter)2

    Suppose weight is 100 KG & Height is 2 Meter than BMI=100/(2) 2 =25

This is acceptable for male but for femal has to reduce weight up to 80 KGS

How to remain fit & healthy?

Morning before taking any thing drink warm water 4-6 glass as per body requirement.

    Keep your stomach half filled

Keep your weigh as per you height

Maintain hemoglobin level as your doctor says

Do exercise or walking 30-60 minutes

Do yoga ,Pranayam in place of exercise if possible

  3. Hari has some very good ideas, so does the lady who suggested a gentle laxative. (Though it is recommended you visit your doc before taking laxatives.)

I had this problem too, constipated for 10 days!

You really need to get things moving, otherwise you WILL suffer cramps, bloating, the feeling of always wanting to be sick.

Drink a glass of warm water every hour.

When I was badly constipated I boiled the kettle, waited 10 minutes, then drank a glass almost hot water.

I would actually limit what you eat, NO MORE FATTY FOODS!

You seem to be healthy + know that it was the lack of fibre and water that caused the constipation you are suffering, especially if your system is not used to such high amounts of fats and sugars.

You need to get fibre back into your diet, eat plenty of fruits + weetabix. This should help movement so you should be able to have a poo. It will hurt (a lot) but the 10-14 glasses of warm water you will be drinking will make the poo a little softer.

If you eat a lot of food now, you are likely to get involved in the "vicious cycle of constipation", where you are constantly constipated because you are full of waste.

For the next 2/3 days, stick to foods high in fibre, avoid carbs + fatty foods.

Drink lots of warm water (every hour) and lots of fruit.

I'd recommend eating a high fibre product every 2-3 hours.

(Aim to eat 2 bowls of weetabix per day)

If you can't poo after 5 days of doing the above, a visit to the doctors is required as it can be something more serious.

  4. eat loads of wheatabix in row :D.

or loads of high in fibre fooods

  5. go back to eating normally, that'll do it.
