  1. let me tell you... it is propably safer than some areas in the US ... no racism in Germany!

  2. well, the statement "no racism in germany" is not true....

fact is, the further east you go, the higher the chance of running into neonazis...

  3. WW2 was about jews and hitler being a dumdass not about black people ;-)

and believe me, i find black people have less trouble in germany then they might in the US... so feel free to visit!

  4. Their are lots of blacks in germany they are used to the U.S. service men.

  5. Umm, my friend is black, he lives there. OF COURSE!

  6. i totally agree with people whzo said the eastern part of germany isnt that safe. but that doesnt mean that there are no black people and it doesnt mean that this part of germany is filled with neonazis or skinheads. and it of course doesnt mean that you should not go there, it just says that the chance to find discrimination there is bigger. but i still want the people from the western part to remind that neonazis and skinheads are also in the western part of germany so dont act like its only the problem of the eatsern part of germany. we hate it to be shown as the "old n***s od germany", we hate it to be treated like the bad guys just because some idiots may think they should behave like a******s. germany ( whole germany!)  is beautiful, so please feel free to visit us!

  7. First of all....yes very safe....second of all WWII was about JEWS no BLACKS......Germany does not care too much what color your are nowadays...everyone is accepted or welcomed.  The answer to your question is yes....

  8. Though my fore posters are genrally right there's a certain danger for dark skinned people in some areas in Eastern Germany. The rural towns/villages in the states of Saxony (Sachsen), Sachsen Anhalt, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg unfortunately are the home of quite some numbers of n**i skinhead scum. Just about a month ago a group of immigrants from India was beaten by a racist mob in Sachsen.

But in general the largest part of the country isn't racist.

  9. MAN-WW2 has been over for some 50 years- times have changed.  Just because your black means nothing your just another tourist.  Europe is full of the black population and you really should have NO problem.  PACK THOSE BAGS.

  10. You may think of WWII Germany as having something to do with "racism", but none of the people involved were black.  The people who were killed were Jews, people of certain religions, Poles, Hungarians, and so on, all of them what would be called "white".  There is no prejudice against black (African or African-American) people connected to WWII in Germany.  In general, Germans are less prejudiced against blacks than Americans, because they have no history of enslaving blacks.

  11. DeeDee is correct.  The west part is fine.  The old communist east is not so good.  But, in the big cities there are so many cosmopolitan beings, that one barely notices their differences.

Here in Bremen where I live, we have a very big black community, from Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Cameroon, Congo (both), you name it.  There are also African churches, hairdressers, restaurants etc.  I don´t quite know what the war has to do with your fears.  But they are unfounded.  You´re welcome here.

  12. Milli Vanilli were from Germany.

Donna Summer was born in Germany and lived there in her teens, I believe.

Lou Bega who sang Mambo Number 5 ("A little bit of Monica at your side . . . .") is a German.

Tina Turner has lived in Switzerland (not Germany, I know, but kinda Germanic) for probably 20 years or so.

    Yes, you should be  fine.

Note:  latj's comments about Germany's own population of African AMERICANS illustrates  the problem with referring to black people as  African Americans.  For Black people in America - perhaps the term has a place in some contexts - but Black works too- there are Black people everywhere - they are not all Americans.

  13. Are you crazy.  Germany is one of the friendliest countries I was ever stationed in.  There are tons of black servicemen and servicewomen there.  Germany also has its own large population of Afican Americans.  It is a wonderful country and it is so many inter racially mixed couples and children over there that you will be surprised.  Go....enjoy the country and the people!!!  Vunderbar choice!!!!

  14. It's completely safe.  I went there with no problem and loved it!
