I volunteer at my church for vacation bible school. How do I deal with some of the kids?

One of the kids was complaining for his mother and sister for the entire three hours!! He came around some but was still complaining. I basically babysat him the entire time and felt bad because I didnt give any of the other kids attention. I am a helper and I want to be able to give all of the kids attention but I still be able to comfort the kid missing his family. Help!!

I would talk to his mom and ask her what kinda of things he likes and what would help him to enjoy it more. Perhaps he can bring a favorite game or toy with him.
