The orientation is 8 hours long and 90% of the people there are much much older than me.

  1. Ask a friend to join you if you really don't want to do it alone.

  2. That's what summer camp is all about, meeting people and making new friends.  I bet in five minutes there you will have met a new friend.  Have fun ,  look eager to learn and smile and people will come to you.

  3. Walk up to people and your opening line could be...

"Hi, I'm (your name), this is my first time volunteering, have you worked the camp before?"  The ball will be in their court and they will start talking and sharing camp stories.

    Good luck!

  4. You should get to know some people! Life's an adventure! Take a risk.

  5. The orientation will probably consist of mixers to help you get acquainted with your coworkers. Try striking up simple conversations with people in your groups (especially the ones like you who don't yet have friends).
