  1. Truth is, when you become an astronomer, you'll be doing a lot less looking through the big telescopes at the sky than you'll be sitting behind a computer crunching numbers. (I've talked with several before) So I hope you enjoy math or are at least good at it.

But if astronomy is really something you want to pursue, one you get into high school make sure you get as many math and science classes as you can. Try to get in the Advanced Placement (AP)_Calculus AB, Calculus BC, and Statistics classes if available. And as far as science goes, focus heavily on physics.

When you get to college, study for a degree is astronomy (if available), or physics. Then if you decided to go to graduate school you can work on an astrophysics or astronmy degree.

In the workforce, you have essentially two options: work for the government at a place like NASA or get tenure at a university. If you take the university route, after you get tenure there you'll pretty much be able to do any research you want, go to any observatory, study whatever you want - provided you can get funding for it.

  2. Being good in mathematics and know some basics of physics is enough. And you should gather as much enthusiasm and motivation as possible for astronomy as possible. Next, I recommend you looking for a club of astronomers in your region. There are many around public observatories around, which will also have no problems with teenagers going star gazing.

Finally, get your own telescope and a good location to go watching from time to time (of course on the weekend, don't miss school because of it).

Be good at school, because it will make it easier for you to study later (regardless what you want to study). When you begin to study, you will need all motivation you can get, as astronomy is (like all stuff on a university) a very boring and theoretical subject before you can really start making science.

Much more important as all scientific stuff, though, are social skills... you will need them.

  3. to be honest, u might need to do physics, astrophysics, and maths. is this what u really want to do in your life cos u have to be interested in these things.

  4. read up on astronomy and get aerospace degree in colledge. also you will have to learn how to pilot airplanes and stuff . wait, astronomer or astronaut? astronaut trvels to space and astronomer studies space. make up your mind first

  5. spelling is a good start.

complete sentences will show that you know what you are talking about.

astronomy is a lot of math, so be prepared.  Also, the course work will include chemistry, physics (optics, nuclear, quantum), electronics and still more math.

your astronomy course work will include celestial mechanics, practical and observing, and photography.  If you are lucky, you will spend hours and hours doing nothing, and a few minutes looking through a telescope. (then hours and hours more looking at the results.)

your best preparation is to eat bad food and stay up late.

  6. Study harder . They only accept the cream of the crop...
