I wan to be made into a dancer. What should I do? How should I do it?

Sign up for a class!

I think ballet is great for really gaining skill, strength and flexibility, but a lot of people get bored with it.

Jazz is really fun, same with hip hop.

Also you can get some at home workout DVDs or Pilates would help to.

Just believe in yourself and practice, Have Fun! :)

***Just a little off-topic but nobody is MADE into a dancer....you have to work hard****

Anway, no matter the style of dance, the company directors, talent scouts, etc. are looking for:

1. personality/the "it" factor/stage presence/confidence - get all that by really dancing from your heart.  If love to dance, it should come naturally - make sure you grab their attention while dancing....be "Look at me!  I'm the best!" and tell yourself that even if you might not be.  Don't get stuck-up but just dance confidently and joyously and people will love that about you.

2. Stretching!!!!!!  So key in dance is flexibility - you can do so much more when you're flexible.  Stiff people look horrible dancing (no offense to anyone out there)

3. Strength!!!  If you don't have any muscles (even if you're not a guy & don't have to lift girls) you need to be strong otherwise your body will collapse and you will suffer from so many injuries.  Build up your muscles (especially ankle ones if you're on pointe)

start off slowly

1) take or if your already in dance lessons practice a lot

2) perform in local plays, concerts any where that they need people to perform, even at bars can help

3) once you get used to a crowd, audition for a big play near you

4) try to make sure you have a great routine down before you audition for anyone
