Im 18, 5'11 and 155 lbs, im pretty sure i can handle a 600cc bike but im not very aware of all the options out there as far as a sport bike.... I've ridden mini bikes and dirt bikes but they were all automatics so i dont have any experience shifting. (can that be picked up quickly?). So any advice? And where can i find a bike for cheap??

  1. get a bike that is a good beginner bike , but that you will not outgrow in a hurry. I recommend th Kawasaki Ninja 250R or Suzuki sv650 . one is sporty , the other is more of a do everything bike. both are easy to ride and  fun as well and will last you for years. shifting just takes practice in coordinating the throttle hand and clutch hand and with a bit of practice is fairly simple. you could also look at a used bike like a Suzuki gsx 500f or a Honda 599. both should be fairly cheap to buy.

  2. well im 16 and i used to have a sports bike ,,it was a gpz 500 and that was a great bike for beginers and shifting is easy it usually 1 down 5 up depending on how many gears the bike has ,,but go shoping and test drive the bikes and see what you can handle but start small and then work your way up

  3. shifting is very easy to pick up on you should get the hang of it in less than an hour. when you bike is alot louder than usual and is vibrating alot you shift up, when its quit and you are hardly giving it gas you shift down. but just find an empty road about a mile long and practice driving back and forth. good luck!
