  1. Yes..18 months of pilot training and you will need to take a loan of £85,000 for your training costs & who knows air transat might not be hiring in 2 years or so..

    Try make your goal to become a pilot first then get hired by any airline and build up your flight time.


  2. Try ATP (Airline Transport Professionals) but keep in mind that they train you for CRJs - not big jets. You need to log at least 1500 hours of multi-engine flight time after you get a commercial license in order to move up to larger jets. You also have to be 23 years of age. If you can get hired by the regionals (which is where most pilots start), you usually have to be at least 21 years of age.

    Best bet would be a 10-month self-paced program at ATP Airline Transport Professionals school. There are a lot of similar programs, too. Expect to pay about $70,000 but there are tons of loans available that will even defer payment up until you get hired (up until a year and a half, of course). One is Sallie Mae, which is funded by the US Government.
