Ok i wanna be a cop when i grow up, i'm 15 right now so ya...how much does it cost to complete all the education and training necessary to become a cop? Including college, university etc etc and then what ever course i have to take...what's the total cost? And i was also wondering like pretend i'm a cop but i'm off duty...and then my buddies are in a gang involved fight... (scrap...no guns no weapons) is it legal for me to fight with them or would i get my job taken away...ok i know its not legal but would by job be put into jeopardy...nothing to do with drugs...but if i were involved in a fight? and off duty..if i have music on that says "**** the police" haahah NWA...would my job be put into jeopardy?

  1. For your question about the fight you would be dismissed from your agency and you will be terminated. You always have to up hold the fact that you are an officer.

The cost to be a Police man or Sheriff may differ county to county. Sacramento County cost 5000 for the academy and the equipment. College is preffered and go into Criminal Justice the degree would only get you up to 15% more pay thats all.

But its not the price of something that makes an officer its the attitude and the willing to do something. Someone can have the moiney for it but not be ready mentally or physically for the job.

    Deputy Explorer Gomez

    Sacramento County Sheriff

  2. do you need to go to university to be a cop?

In Britan if you can read your in (in fact you make seargent)

oh sorry i didnt read the whole question.

No you cant run with gangs when your a cop.

    They are picky like that

  3. yea you would get in trouble if you were to get into a gang fight becuase thats making your force look bad.. and if you want to be a cop i belive you only need 2 years in criminal science.. but depends what type of cop you want to be..

  4. Good luck.  Here are some responses to your questions in order asked.

    1.  It can cost nothing.  One route to receive the education is to attend military basic training and to become a military polics officer.  The other approch is to attend college up front in which case it will run you anywhere from $1,400-$20,00 a year.  (communaty college low end, Ivy League upper end and beyond.)  There is no formal university degree required to become an officer.  The degrees most useful would be Political Science, Psychology, Forensic Science, etc.

    2.  You get in a fight off duty, you get thrown in jail like anyone else.  You belong to a "gang" as an officer, you get thrown into jail with all the people you put there.  Simple as that.

  5. When I went through police academy it cost me about $2000.00, and being a cop takes a vocational degree so you don't need a four year degree from college but it would help you in promotion. Also when you become a law enforcement individual, you are held to a higher creed, so that means all the negative things you do with your friends, you would have to stop. when you're a sworn officer you are swear to up hold the law, so when you see a crime happening you are obligated to do whatever force is necessary to resolve the issue. I used to listen to heavy gangster rap music, but when I became involved in law enforcement and saw how ignorance effects our community, i stop listening to it.

  6. It depends. If you go get a college degree in criminal justice or forensic science, it could cost $20,000+ per year if you choose a private university. However the good news is that many police forces require no experience and no prior training. In fact, many of them actually pay you while they train you.

I went to a demonstration once regarding the Washington State Patrol ( I live in Washington and was considering becoming a police officer). If you meet some minimum requirements and get admitted to the training program, you live at the training facility. Its a little bit like military boot camp except they aren't as harsh with you. Cadets (cops in training) make about $3500 per month salary.

And yes, if you are a cop, you can loose your job if you are caught in any illegal activity, on or off duty. In reality, there's no such thing as an off-duty cop. The WSP are required to carry their badge and sidearm with them everywhere they go even when they're off duty. They aren't expected to do anything, but they are expected to be ready to enforce the law if they're ever caught in a situation.

  7. It will cost you more Physically and Mentally!!!

Study hard, get an education.  Talk to someone now and get advise on choice of studies and prepare.  be in shape and learn as much as you can about the job.  Good Luck.  great Career.

  8. take law enforcement classes
