  1. My daughter was on the Mock Trial team for a few years. She loved it! Some people played the "lawyer/attorney" parts and others played witnesses. Then they went to local, regional, state and national competition where other Mock Trial teams were running against them. It took lots of time and effort, they had a teacher adviser, and 2 real lawyers volunteered their time to assist them in the process. The even met at the court house for practice! Then, when they went to competition, they presented the case in front of a real judge! You should look into getting a Mock Trial group at your school. It was fun, and it also gave the kids a great insight into how much work goes into being a lawyer. The competition is serious and tough.  It was as close to real as you could get.

Edit: Mock Trial Teams continue at the college level too!!

  2. Well, many school have mediation groups and student mentor groups who actually are the judge and jury for disciplinary problems. if your middle school does not have one why don't you propose it to the principal. Then investigate some of the more successful models in use.

  3. Why are you asking your question in the Special Ed section? Don't you understand that Special Education deals with people who have physical and/or mental disabilities?
