  1. You can purchase prepared Japanese eel  (look under the OKAZU category) or fresh frozen eel (look under the FISH category) at Japan Super. They are in LA.

I'm not sure how much (bulk) you want to buy, but you could call or ask for a quote (say on a case order).

As for the recipe, we simply marinate our eel in Unagi no tare (sauce for grilled eel - found under Sauces), broil it in the oven or on a grill and pour some extra sauce, if desired. Serve over a bowl of hot rice or slice up for use in sushi.

  2. I'd say www.eel.com...Don't know how well that would work, as it's an odd request. I'm gonna guess that you're gonna have to get it mail-order. Good Luck!

  3. I looks like supermum has the right information to purchase your eel.  Here is a really easy way to prepare it.

    Capitone Fritto (Fried Eel)

    2 1/2 pounds eel

    3 cloves garlic

    Salt

    Pepper

    2 Tablespoons olive oil

    1 Tablespoon vinegar

1/2 bay leaf per piece eel

    Flour

    Salt

    Oil for frying

Cut eel into pieces about 3 inches long, wash, dry and rub with garlic. Season with salt and pepper and drizzle with oil and vinegar; let sit in marinade for at least an hour.

Sprinkle with oil and dot with pieces of bay leaf. Once marinated, roll fish in flour and fry in moderately hot oil until browned and crunchy on the outside. Drain well on absorbent paper towels.
