I wanna change my career from 'Software Testing' to 'Astronomy'?

Am pretty confused! I always wanted to have a career in Astronomy or aerospace or in Aeronautical Engineering. It has been my interest. I have done my B.E in mechanical engg, am 23 now and working as a software tester. I wanna change my career now. Please advice. Is this viable. If so what shoudl i do. Is there anyone whoc have changed their career from software line to Aerospace. Please Help

  1. With a B.E in Mech Eng and programing skill(?), you could probably get into a grad program in astronomy/astrophysics.

    The problem you will most likely have is that the physics required for engineering is not as deep as the physics required for graduate level astro. However, that shouldn;t stop you.

    Look into graduate programs in astronomy.

    One of my PhD students in astrophysics has a background in chem. eng. and material science and he's doing just fine (and had no problem getting accepted into our program.

I would suggest you could start working on Aerospace domain by joining companies like Honeywell or Boeing etc., you could join testing team in these companies to start with,  In the mean time you will also need to join Postgraduate diploma or Engineering (distance education or evening colleges) in the desired stream to gain more knowledge and proficiency.
