I wanna contribute to my society for noble causes.

Please guide me , how to start and from where?

I am an IT professional, have good knowledge in IT, computers, maths, history. I can help elderly people and can teach unprivileged and poor children on weekends.

I am living in Malden, MA (USA).

  1. Look for organizations in your area that are working with at-risk youth and/or the elderly. Your local United Way can help.

    Look for community technology centers, youth center and FreeNets in your area. Also look for the nearest group of "Circuit Riders" in your area.

    Because you want to volunteer regarding an area of expertise, you need to have a resume that shows your experience with IT, as well as a list of references that can testify to your skills and character. You also need to be prepared to go through a criminal background check.

    A lot of organizations haven't really thought about their IT needs, so you may need to pitch this idea to several nonprofits before you find one that is ready to involve you.
