Question:

I wanna dance again.?

I danced so much when I was little. Like ages 4-9. Tap, ballet, and jazz. But you know how when you're little everything gets old fast? I dropped dancing, but looking back I so miss being on a stage and have atleast a hundred people watching me. I mean sure I was really really little back then but still.

I'm 15 now and ever since I stopped dancing it's kind of like... I don't know. I used to be decent at it but now I suck at dancing, haha. Plus I don't want to have to start over from the beginning, because I haven't danced in 6 or 7 years and I'm a person who hates starting over.

I told my mom a few weeks ago "you know, I kind of wish you pushed me to keep dancing when I was little." And she said "well... you wanted to quit."

I really miss dancing even those I was so little. But as I said before I would hate to have to start from the beginning and learn about pliés again or something, and ever since I stopped I suck and have no sense of rhythm. :/

What do you think I should do?

  1. search around for teen classes, like you i stopped when i was nine and rejoned when i was 15, into a basic level. if you have the money, you could also try privates.

  2. Since you have had previous dance experience you will not have to start at a level 1.  I danced for 6 years and dropped at the age of 10 to do gymnastics for ten years.  I like you have always regretted dropping dance and now at the age of 28 I have started dancing ballet again. (I'm hoping to go on pointe eventually)  If you love dance as much as you say you do, then do it.  I am taking intermediate ballet and there is a wide range of ages in my class, 8 to 67.  You become a role model for the younger ages and you admire the older ones for what they are striving to accomplish for themselves.  Don't let the other people, or their ages, in the class intimidate you.  Do it because you want to and because you love it.  The rhythm will come back to you.

    Good luck and best wishes!!

  3. take private dance lessons. u wont feel like ur starting over bc u wont be with 8 year olds or 40 year olds.

  4. Well first

find a dance school thats not of the highest class

    like a leniant one.

join a large age group mine is

10-14 so its got like so so many different levels of dance.

im probs the highest. cos theres only like 2 14 year olds so we get the best bits XD

um. well u need to stretch and stretch and stretch before getting back into it.

    so i suggest u start now :)

then if u do ballet buy a theory booklet with all the terms in it

memorise them as best you can.

if u need help with plies and arabesque and stuff get together with other friends who are dancers and let them teach you

u will feel comfortable around them :)

    good luckxx

  5. ask if there are any beginner teen classes.

  6. Well i first started doing ballet when i was 13  and now I am in grade 3 and training for my exam. I'm 15 as well but all the kids in my class are only about 2 years younger than me and I don't feel really older.

You shouldn't bother about feeling older or younger cause if you really wanna dance than you can do it no matter what the situation is.

And if you practice everyday for about and 1hour a day you can reach your goal in no time at all.

You should also stretch as well cause you can maybe gain some of your fellow dancers respect if you are more flexible then they are. I knwo this sounds stupid but because i stretch a lot I can teach the kids who are above me in their grades how to stretch for more flexibility so they don't see me as a loser who just dreams about dancing.

Have fun and take your time and above all

    DON'T STRESS!

    toodles
