  1. to go from LA to the border is about 20 hours drive time, the border line up to get into Canada (at Blaine, Washington to Surrey, BC) on a bad day is 2 hours, most days 30 minutes some days you get lucky drive right up and thru.  Your drive time from Surrey, BC to Dawson Creek (mile 0 on the alaska highway is about 16 hours) Drive time from Dawson Creek to the Alaskan border is about 35-40  hours.

Its a long haul but then again your going from one end of the continent to the other the long way

  2. Less than 1400 miles. . .  if you were a crow, flying a direct line to anchortown.    Dont ask in klicks lol.   But you're not flying, you are driving and conecting to the alcan, probably somewhere in the yukon territory. Well that would be  . .. .  longer.

I took the alcan twice in the 90's and The trip from Helena, montana to Squarebanks, Ak took 4 days once cruising with speed.  The other time it took 2 and a half weeks traveling with pleasure.

Be sure to stop at lliard hot springs at trader rays.  Be sure to side step over to the rockies to see banff national park.  soak it in.

    can I come next time?

  3. where did you start in california?  i think it's about a thousand miles from border to border.  so divide by your average speed.
