  2. hmm it is very difficult to find a good bike of any type for under 300-400 bucks. but my suggestion would be depending on your age and primary use of the bike look for a beginners bike. something in your price range would be something at say a toys R us, walmart or maybe a target. 1 thing to remember when buying any bike is get the right size for you. usually someone working at the store you look at will help you find the correct bike for you.

  3. As far as getting into the sport (non competitively) borrow someones bike first to find if you like it, then go out and go to a sporting goods store (here we Hawe d**k's sports) and look at bikes, If you go to say walmart you will find schwinn in your price range, run-a-way, schwinn and all walmart/target/kmart bikes are made by one company,(doing what gmc does, they own and run chevy cadillac and tons more and just slap different names on the same car) The company that owns them is pacific cycles, they make schwinn, mongoose, huffy, vertex, and many more names.  Avoid these at all costs, at the sporting goods store you will find bikes that have fewer feature ;( but they are far better quality,:) you will find both hard tails and full suspension bikes in your range, if you are willing to pedal the extra weight get the full suspension, just know they are more maintance and are harder to jump, you might also find disc brakes, if you can get these, they are the best out there (almost) and avoid hybrids, A good brand is iron horse, this is the main low budget decent bike.  look for about 21-24 speeds, 27 is the best.

  5. dont be embarassed to get yourself into something that you're interested in. your parents would probably support you and wish you the best. idk anything about biking but i wish you the best of luck

  6. There is nothing embarressing about wanting to do physical activity.  With all of the video and computer games out there to occupy your time...I am thrilled that u are choosing biking.

I also recently got into biking - about 1 yr ago.  I hadn't ridden a bike since high school (I am talking 13years ago!)  I wasn't sure if I'd like it so I went to Kmart and bought a Huffy Ladies bike for $90.  It has seriously been the best value bike, never had a puncture (it's a mountain bike), has encouraged me to exercise more (I now ride to work 2 x a week - 16 kms round trip) and it feels great.  The only outlay would be the cost of the bike and helmet....and that's it.  Once you start, you will be looking at tracks to ride nearby or even joining a mountain biking group.  It is great way to meet people too if you do this.  I always thought bike shops only had expensive bikes.  But you'd be suprised.  Maybe head into one and get some advice.  You can pick up a good quality bike in there within your price range.

Good luck...but most of all ...Go for it!!
