I'm in MA and I'm thinking of going skiing to one of the big mountains in NH/ME/VT. I'm an advanced skiier, I want to have fun. Where do you guys like to go? A brief explanation would be great. Thanks for the reccomendations

  1. Jay Peak, VT - I have never seen powder like this in the east before.  The woods are great, and the whole hill is fair game.  This hill was just pure playful fun.

Sugarloaf, ME - I ran into a couple from Switzerland who took their winter vacation to come ski here every year.  Seriously.  Mostly wide open groomed trails with some playful steeps at the top.  Unlike Jay Peak, there is a pretty large base village, and ski and stay packages can be really cheap.

  2. Smuggs Notch in Vermont is awesome! They usually have fresh powder. Madonna 1 mountain has a few challenging hills like Upper lift line, lots of cliffs if you are like me, you'll love it. Black hole, a triple black diamond, if your up for it, and some easier challenging runs like Upper FIS, and Free fall. Trust me, if you go you'll have a blast, and i promise you wont regret it!

  3. Stratton: located in southern Vermont. An EXCELLENT place to go on a family vacation, because they have so many activities and a beautiful little village within the resort. It is also extremely family oriented.

Stowe: located in Vermont. A great place to ski! They have plenty of trails and guaranteed great snow conditions. One thing interesting about it is that the Von Trapp (from the Sound of Music) Family lodge is located here as well.

Killington: located in Vermont. One of the highest vertical drops in Vermont. It's huge and I highly recommend it for advanced skiiers!

Okemo: located in Vermont. One of my favorites. The snow conditions are always amazing and they have some of the most beautiful trails. I also highly recommend this resort for an advanced skiier.

....sorry that they were all in Vermont. These are just my favorite resorts. Hope this helped!
