ok, all my life ive been a straight-A student, but high school has been tough

i finished junior year in june with 3 B's, 2 C's, and a D. first off, i HATED with an immense passion the classes i got C's and D's in. Math Analysis, which is basically pre-calc, i got a D in because i didnt understand calculus at all and my teacher had no sympathy for me. C's i got in Spanish and AP US history, because second semester both teachers immensely added on to the workload and changed it up, and i didnt adjust well.

im the type that i dont do well in classes i dont like, and this year was too stressful for me with 6 classes, 3 of which were AP, and a college public speaking course.

i had alot of drama with other ppl at school who i had to spend a great amount of time dealing with, and that took away from homework time.

My report just came today (long story..) and im gna show my parents tomorrow. I know theyre gna totally flip because my parents get mad at the sight of one C, let alone what i brought

they expect me to go to a 4 year, but i dont think thats possible at this point. they say that theyre paying for my college so i cant use money as an issue to go to a CC.

Someone help me! First off, how do i explain the grades? and second, how do i convince them that its better for me to go to a CC?

  1. well they should understand why the grades were bad hon everybody gets bad grades when drama gets nasty--its a part of life! and the convincing them it's better for you? pfft they should be happy you are so into going to college in the first place! community college is a way better idea anyways, I don't mean to stereotype but it's crazy better to go to a community college first.

  2. Okay, whomever told you that college is hard was totally lieing to you. College is incredibly easy depending on what classes and what teachers you pick. If your wanting to get an education, get an education. You shouldn't base your decision of which college to go to on your grades in high school but rather on what type of career you are pursuing. And you shouldn't limit your career choices to only ones that require 2 year of school. Also you could always start at a community school for an associates and then transfer over to a 4 year after wards. Explain to your parents in a way that they will understand and I'm sure they will support you. I think starting at a community college is a good decision a lot of the times though because it eases your transition into the college life because there are less student at a CC. Which means the student to teacher ratio will be much less, allowing you to absorb information easier and  it allows for more one on one time with the teacher if necessary.

  3. ok first you have to answer why you think its a better idea for you to go to a community college. or i can't help you

  4. I would advise you to enroll in a community college because of your grade point average which 2.33 a C. At the community college you will be able to raise your grade point average. You may be able to take remedial courses for your weak subjects. When you graduate if your grade point average is high enough you may transfer to a college or a university. You may be able to transfer your core subjects such as English, mathematics, humanities, sciences etc.

  5. First off, have you even applied to go to a university yet? if not, you should send out your applications and then see if you didn't get accepted.  If you didn't get accepted, then thats why you go to a community college.  If you know you're going to go to a CC for sure, then you can say that you didn't get accepted to the college that you really wanted to get into, so you're going to go to a CC for your 1st two years so that you can use those credits to transfer into the University of your choice.  PLUS, tuition in CC is cheaper so it would be a smarter choice.  Convince them that it is smarter, cheaper, and easier to get into a better university (with good grades) to transfer from a CC to a great university rather than transferring from a decent college to a better university.  I've had plenty of friends transfer from a CC to UCLA, USC, and Berkley.

But don't ever assume that you won't get accepted to a university, send in your applications and try first!

    Good luck!
