I wanna hear everyones PCOS stories, with success or not. I was just diagnosed PCOS and TTC and wanna hear everyones story. I wanna know the ups the downs, the treatments that you tried that worked or even that didn't work. I wanna know all about it. Talk to me people!! I'm currently on Metformin and then if my cycle starts Clomid.

  1. Hi, I was diagnosed when I was 17yrs old (13.5yrs ago) and after going through things like Clomid then moved on to IVF/ICSI (due to 1st hubby's low sperm count) and after 14 miscarriages. Divorced and met 2nd hubby (who had 2 daughters already) and when we started TTC for our 1st together new specialist told me about Metformin and was shocked I didn't know about it already. Well he told me to take it for 3 monthsand not to TTC and on the 3rd month added clomid to the mix and then said to start TTC, so we did and on the very first try we conceived and Taking Metformin for the first trimester saved my daughter and she's 5.5yrs old today.

A year after her birth I found out I was pg again (didn't take anything to ovulate so don't know how I ovulated) but stupidly didn't take Metformin (thought my body knew what to do now) and sadly miscarried at 8 weeks (didn't find out until 10week ultrasound that the baby had died but placenta was still working) so requiring a D&C.

Then another year later found out I was pg again (again was not on meds as we were not TTC at all, but as soon as I found out I was pg I started Metformin again and well now our 2nd daughter is 3yrs old today.

and now TTC one last time on Metformin and Clomid again (5th cycle), 1st cycle ended in chemical pregnancy, and 4th cycle (just gone) ended in miscarriage again. so yeah it's a roller coaster for me, but thankfully I have yet to met anyone else with such a rough trot in TTC with PCOS so maybe you will be one of the lucky few that don't have to wait too long and everything goes well.

I can not praise Metformin enough, it is the reason I have my gorgeous girls today...

  2. I'm glad you are on metformin. It's a good drug for most of us with PCOS. I had fairly moderate ttc issues. It took longer due to irrefular periods. My main problem with PCOS was the increase in miscarriage. I'm on my 6th pregnancy but only 3rd baby. I'm 23 weeks right now. It's recently been shown in studies that metformin can reduce the miscarriage risk so I'd talk to your dr about continueing the met at least till week 12/13.

I know that my symptoms were worse when my eating was bad and I was puting on weight. When I ate better and less carbs (not carb free as that isn't good) but low carb and complex carbs, then I tended to have an easier time losing weight, ovulating and getting pregnant.

It can be frustrating and take longer to ttc than most woman but please don't get too discouraged, I would think about seeing a reproductive endocrinologist if you aren't already. They are more trained and specialized in helping you ttc. They also know more about PCOS than most regular OB/GYN. At least in my experience. Good luck
