Ive always to join the air force,I love to fly,I love being around planes.I got accepted to the academy of art university,I did everything in school to be accepted into this school.I already sent the letter of accepting there admission.

I wanna take Afrotc while attending college,But i dont know what job I would be able to get with a degree in art.I'm open for any type of job, just as long as I join the us air force and serve my country.

What do I do?

Which jobs would be perfect for me?

please dont tell me I shouldn't join the air force,or any military service, because being in the military has always been my dream.

  1. Congratulations on being accepted into the school you wanted.  Thank you also for wishing to serve your country.

With an Art degree, your best bet to a commission is via AFROTC.  Officer Training School is currently very picky about who they accept (understand they have 1 non-technical degree board/year).

With a liberal arts degree, you can shoot for:

aircrew be it pilot/electronic warfare officer (yes I'm serious)/weapon systems officer/air battle manager.

Intelligence.  Depending on which facet you got into, that experience plus your clearance(s) makes you very employable in the civilian market

    Administration/Public Affairs

    Services

    Security Forces

If you have further questions about aircrew please PM me.  (No you don't need 20/20 vision anymore.)

  2. yes you should join the airforce, but only a small percent works on planes though, you can always go to college on a GI bill or tuition waiver, its a great way of life, full of tradition and excitement

  3. Go into the military, and be proud of your choice.  It will enrich your life and provide experiences that you might never have otherwise -- good and bad.  Your art will benefit from this.  Being an artist is part of who you already are, not what you might become.  You can enhance your technique through classes at any time in your life.  I cannot recommend jobs for you, but there are so many possibilities, and having military experience is a desirable trait for many businesses when considering who to hire.  I commend you for your desire to serve your country.  Thank you.

  4. Follow your heart and choose what you want to do. I'm sure there are jobs that you could do with your art degree. I can suggest to you to contact an AF recruiter and ask someone there.

Good luck with all of your future plans.

  5. If your heart is set on serving in the military, then you should go for it. That mindset is rare and you should run with it as having that as your motivator will do wonders for your military career.

Another option, is to join the Air National Guard in Public Affairs. They actually have Graphic artist positions at many units and you could do this part time and get all of your college paid for, and make money on the side on top of that. I went 4 years of college utilizing my National Guard benefits and they easily met my financial needs during that time. I now have a bachelors degree and no loans from it.

Email me through my profile and I will give you some more insight on this option.
