  1. Personally a hands on approach was the best way to get me started.  The guy would actually help me get the fingering right.  It was 20 bucks a per 1/2 hr though.  One session per week and I only went for about 2 months.  Here are some good sites I have run into though.

  2. Yes! I am also learning to play the guitar, and I know how you feel.. I am a slow learner and there is this book that I have is called "Fast Track music instruction for guitar".. it helps alot =] I dont think its expensive either.. I hope i helped

    Good LUCK!!!! =D

  3. Youtube has tons of videos for bass and electric, i havent looked but Im sure there'd be acoustic as well.

  4. See what the internet has to offer as far as free guitar lessons.

  5. i can relate to your dilemma.  I took a community college class and even at once a week, they moved too fast for me.  You could retake it if you wanted so I did and it was still too fast so I got frustrated and quit.  Some time later, I bought a DVD that came with a book.  I love it!  I can start-stop-pause, etc.  There's even a "Guitar for Dummies" DVD.

    Good luck!

That link is from a VERY good free guitar lessons site called cyberfret.com. Try it out and see if it works.

  7. There's some great lessons online. I saw some just yesterday on YouTube- just search "Guitar for Beginners" or "Guitar Lessons". They seemed pretty good.
