1. Buy Stargazer lilies. They bloom around this time of year. Mine were planted about 3 weeks ago, and they just started to bloom over thw weekend. You will have to plant them a.s.a.p. in order for them to bloom now. You can buy them at a home/garden store, flower shops, etc. They cost about $10. They look and smell gorgeous!

Gardening is now my #1 hobby! Have fun, and I hope your flowers bloom for many years to come!

  2. Good for you! Gardening is a hobby that will reward you a thousand times over for your efforts.

I am not sure where you live, but fall is just around the corner in the U.S. and there are many plants that you can put in the ground now that will come up in spring. You can buy a couple of bags of fall bulbs, and plant them in groups for the most impact. In the order of bloom in spring, here is a list of inexpensive bulbs that do well almost anywhere:

    1. Daffodils

    2. Tulips

    3. Allium

    4. Dutch Iris

All four of those will multiply every year, giving you more and more flowers. In spring, after all danger of frost, you can grow several flowers from seed. My favorite are zinnias. Since you like purple, try the purple prince variety. This will give you a great big violet colored flower all summer long. Purple coneflowers are another great one to grow from seed. Chances are good, also, that if you share with your neighbors that you have become interested in gardening, some may divide their flowers and give you starts for your own garden. This is a great way to start a garden if you have limited starting funds. See if you can find anyone right now whose garden is going to seed. You can get seeds for hollyhocks to satisfy your desire for red and white flowers - these grow 8 feet tall and if you plant them now they will come up and die back before blooming, then come up again in spring with lots of flowers. Be sure to plant your taller plants in the back of the garden so they don't hidel your other flowers!

  3. WELL...IF YOU LIVE IN TROPICAL AREA, YOU MIGHT CONSIDERING PLANT SUCH NERIUM OLEANDER - PURPLE FLOWER, HYMENOCALLIS LITTORALLIS ( SPIDER LILI) WHITE FLOWER (HARDY PLANT). AND Of COURSE OUR BOUGAINVILLAE SPECIES.

PLAN APPROPRIATE SPACES IN YOUR GARDEN IS VERY IMPORTANT. LOOK FOR THE SUNLIGHT DIRECTION .WHAT SOIL THAT YOU HAVE.

  4. Buy tulip bulbs and plant them in the fall-beautiful blooms in the Spring.

  5. It's kinda out of season for them now but cosmos are super easy to plant, you just turn up the soil a bit and sprinkle the seeds, then cover with a thin layer of dirt and water gently. Start them in the spring after the last frost. They come in different colors but the most common colors (I've seen) are purple and white.

  6. right now you can get mums in a variety of colors and they come back every year. They are easy to maintain, water and pick off the dead flowers and new ones will come back. They do get big though.
