I wanna visit colombia, how much money do i need ?

im american, and i want to visit colombia,

i have a girlfriend there,

anyways, how much do i need to go there?

like to rent a car, a hotel, airline tickets to go and back, take my girl out for dinner and stuff, etc etc

i would like to stay there for a month

oh yea and she lives in cartagena and im only 18 years of age

please help

Cartagena is THE most expensive city in Colombia. Dollars are useless there. Having Colombian currency can actually save you money

First of all. Dont rent a car. Take a cab. Airline tickets, try sidestep.com. Im guessing about 800 dolllars but that totally depends on the season when you go. Dinner can range from $3.00 for a bandeja paisa to a huge amount. Hotels. The Hilton costs about $130.00 a night. However, I would find a hotel in the walled city, there is a lot more ambiance. I would also plan on a day or two on Islas Rosario, there are many good hotels there. There is great dancing at night in the main square in the walled city and lots of things to see and do. Cartagena is THE most expensive city in Colombia, but still has a lot of poor. For a month. Let's say $800.00 for airfare, 30 days hotel @30.00 a night is $900.00, Food at an average of $25.00 a day$750.00 Trips to Islas Rosario $100.00 Souvenirs $300.00 Stuff your GF will want you to buy her $400.00. I add all that up and get $3250.00.  Also tell me what neighborhood she lives in or an address and Ill tell you if shes for real.

My main question is this: Why isnt your GF telling you all of this. To me this sound like she is a prepaga and ONLY wants you for whatever you can buy her.

the colombian peso is very strong currency

so you need a lot of dollars because Bogota and Cartagena are very expensive cities

If your girlfriend lives there, ask her. She is the only one who will tell you exactly how much money to bring and what kind of activities will you do over there. It all depends on what kind of stuff do you want to buy and what kind of things you will want to do, places to eat, etc. She can tell you the price of car rental, restaurants, but you can figure the price of the ticket by checking places like expedia, travelocity, etc.

By the way, your nicname is not cool, just remember the people who died that September.....

Well, Colombia is a great and a cheap destination ... Well, I think you would spend like $ 2500 or $ 3500, It could be most cheap, but you know Cartagena is a touristic city, so it's not too cheap ...
