we are planning a family holiday to the gold coast (australia) and would like to know of cheap accommodation. We have 4 children who will be 10, 8, 2 & 6 months, We are planning to go to some of the theme parks (dreamworld, movieworld etc) so would have to have buses or some access to these places.

  1. check out paradise resort surfers paradise, they have good rates that also include 1-2 free kids club sessions per child per day depending on the age of the child, also inludes $5 kids meals at the restaurant and takeaway shop in the resort, there is a small supermarket that wasnt as expensive as i thought it would be. the resort is only about 5-10 minute walk to the shopping centre, sea world was a $10 taxi fare away and other theme parks are about half an hour away. the bus stops at the front of the resort. i went there with my 4 year old daughter in february and it was the cheapest with the most facilities that i could find. i heard ashmore palms is also a good cheap place to stay

  2. There are many  serviced apartment hotels, you do not say which part of Gold Coast. Some good places that have plenty of rooms for a family that are inexpensive and have at least 2 bedrooms are the Breakfree Equinoxe which can sleep 6 easily, plus you get a kitchen also  Baronnet Apartments. The Breakfree Equinoxe for June was a bargain

  3. Circle on Cavill, while its not incredible cheap (try wotif or travelmate for a better deal) it would accomodate your family in one of there 2 bedroom apartments, save you being squished into a tiny hotel room.

  4. www.wotif.com.au =) is an awesome site & they have good deals.

Also for busses its called 'sunseeker'

they pick you up from your hotel & drop you off there!! we stayed at the sunset island resort - amazing apartments with balconies etc @ not too bad a price (especially if you have a entertainment book' membership)

    http://www.entertainmentbook.com.au/..

Hope i helped. Also there is a resort in the Gold coast that is Fantastic for families - kids will absolutely love it & you can leave them there (at the play areas) if you want to go to dinner etc

Its called the 'Paradise resort' hotel
