Any flight via Europe will cost you almost 4 times as much in air taxes as flying direct from JFK to DXB would be on either Emirates (to Dubai) or Etihad (to Abu Dhabi, but they have a courtesy coach down to Dubai and the journey is around 1 hour) .. Trust me on this one, I live in Dubai and direct is the only way to go!
