I want BOTH analog and digital tv stations. Am I being greedy?

OK. So I bought and installed a DB-4 hi gain, multi-directional antenna, hooked it up to to the RCA digital converter box, set the box to Channel 3 on my TV. I made sure the antenna was pointed to maximize channel reception, and went through set up on the converter box, which resulted in 12 clear stations. The problem is, none of the analog stations which I used to get on my TV are there anymore. With the fancy antenna, regardless of the fact it's feeding through thre converter box, there should also be an excellent analog signal getting through to the analog TV's tuner. Alas, NOTHING analog is getting through to the TV's analog tuner. What do I need to do to get BOTH analog and digital (at least until analog stops broadcasting in 6 months)?

  1. Considering its purpose, the digital converter may not be wired to pass the original antenna signals on to your TV. If it won't step aside when it's turned off, you'll need to switch the antenna cable over by hand, or get a splitter, video switch, and a few short cables to bypass the digital box when you want to watch analog broadcasts.

It's cheap and easy to do, but I don't think there's anything on TV worth buying temporary equipment for.
