“I want England to go all the way”: Wayne Rooney

Manchester United and English striker Wayne Rooney has expressed his desire to lead England into the Euro 2012.

Rooney was an utter and complete failure during England’s run in the 2010 World Cup held in South Africa. Coming off from his best season with Man United, where he scored 34 goals in all competition, Rooney was expected to be England’s
special weapon on their bid to claim their second World Cup. However, that was not be, as he had troubles off the pitch and fitness issues, which led him to not score a single goal in four fixtures for the 3 Lions. The player was a shadow of his brilliant
self and was silent during the matches in South Africa.

However, Rooney has put all that behind him and is looking forward to guiding his side into the Euro 2012, and beyond. The striker scored two goals in England’s recent 3-0 win against Bulgaria, which took them once step closer to
qualifying for the Euros.

"I'm enjoying my football and I've got a great hunger about me," stated the 25 year old.

The player added that he ready and focused more than ever to help his national side win silverware come next year. He also hoped that the 3 Lions kept their form going till they get the job done and was confident that his recent
goal scoring form isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

"I want to prove myself again and hopefully I'm doing that. I feel really good and hopefully I can continue to score goals."

Rooney explained that it was the new blood in the England line-up that is proving to be the difference maker and that the game against Bulgaria was proof of that. It was a good solid team performance from the Three Lions, something
that was lacking in the 2010 World Cup.

"With the pace of Theo Walcott, Ashley Young and Stewart
Downing all breaking forward, it is difficult for teams to defend against us. "We controlled the game and I enjoyed playing in that system," he added.

“We have won every away game since the World Cup and as a team are good on the counter-attack. Wherever the manager wants me to play, I'm happy to play and I got chances," added the English International.

Wayne Rooney has rejuvenated himself since he has signed a long-term contract with Man United last November. He has scored 5 times in three premier league fixtures so far, which includes a hat-rick against Arsenal in United 8-2 win.
Rooney is the man to watch for both England and Man United and remains their top asset.
