I want Girardi gone if the Yankees don't make the playoffs. Any Yankee fans agree?

I know he's already blown 12-15 games with his dumb managerial mistakes this season, but tonight's game was the last straw. They bench Johnny Damon and his 11-game hit streak and Jason Giambi. I can understand giving Giambi the night off for Sexson because of his success against left-handed pitching, but to start Christian in left in place of Damon in one of the most important games of the year for us?! That's just stupid and inexcusable. He's gotta go, we made a HUGE mistake letting Torre go. Damon LEADS the LEAGUE in hitting. Right now he's the BEST table-setter in the AL, and he doesn't play this game. They blow a solid outing by Ponson and get shut down by Glen Perkins. We better turn this around fast.

  1. No. If i was a yankee fan i'd want to  dump the bullpen, get some starting pitchers, knock some sense into Cano and give Moose a raise.

  2. blame torre, get rid of torre. blame girardi, get rid of girardi.  remember a guy named billy martin ?  sometimes it ain't the manager

  3. yes the yanks sux they need torre back

  4. my Opinion is that Girardi for me has to prove he can win in we york and i mean Championships, people think i hate the guy i dont hate the guy is that i want to success because he can that all i ask for

  5. I am not a Yankee fan.

When the season started with him, wasn't it understood that he may not make it to the playoffs thios year?  I seem to remember Hank intimating that.  Of course, he is a Steinbrenner.

  6. He has to go. He was supposed to be great and he sucks. Benching Damon was stupid. If he werent the manager we might be in first. I want him gone.

  7. Girardo needs to go plain and simple. He has no respect from the players and lets them walk all over him. If Hank Sr was running the ship he'd been dropped like a hot potato a week after the All Star game!!!

  8. Yeah... He's not doing so well.

  9. Considering all the injuries he's had to deal with, I'm not sure that it's fair to fire him after one season. They're lucky to even be in contention right now.

  10. wow...So I'm guessing you can't understand a losing season..That's what I don't like about alot of the fans of the bigger market teams...they can't understand a loss...and you can't blame the manager on the no run support tonight..Glen Perkins shut them down blame him and the Twins infield

  11. i didn't like the decision to replace torre either, but i would think you gotta give this guy a chance here...you don't know why girardi gave damon the day off and neither do i, perhaps johnny asked for the day off, which happens often in baseball, maybe he just felt johnny needed a little rest, we don't know what went through his mind...don't just bash the guy because he made a decision that went the wrong way

and to call this "one of the most important games of the year" is panic setting in, there's more than a month to play and the yankees are 4 games out of a playoff spot...they will get hot again, this team is very streaky and they are due to run off a winning streak, just be patient

  12. I'm not sure you can blame Girardi for the Yankee's 4.26 ERA (significantly worse than Boston and Tampa).  Damon is old...maybe he needs some rest.  Glenn Perkins has been pretty good, and I'm not sure Girardi had much to do with his team getting shut out...sure he puts the lineup on the dugout wall...but everybody in there is major league talent. It's easy to sit back and rip a manager...but their above .500 with a makeshift pitching staff and plenty of injuries throughout the season. He's also known to be one of the better baseball minds in the game today. But if fans want him out, I'd be glad to see him come succeed with the Reds and their future.

  13. h**l no he is a good manager that was in new york most of his career u can't blame the manager if a team is ravaged by injuries.

  14. Think about this way.

If the Yankees were in first place and Girardi made those mistakes, no one would care. I understand he is in a playoff race, but he doesn't hit, field, or pitch. His players did not get him far this year and firing him after one year would be immoral. Besides, he signed a contract. He will be in New York for a few years.

  15. Torre has made his fair share of mistakes(Joba and the bugs-not bunting off of Schilling in the playoffs-just to name two).

What is amazing is that Michael Kay is pointing out such obvious mistakes it makes you wonder wth Girardi and his coaches are thinking.

Kay pointed out left handed hitters are hitting .330 against Perkins-so where is Giambi and Damon?

To rest Damon is fine, but he would have to be the DH. Christian should have played center and Nader in left. I doubt Melky will be in a Yankee uniform next year. Melky seems to be getting worse.

Cano-in the last loss to the Angels-was not playing in the correct position(clearly pointed out on every tv show) so why didn't the coaches move him? Besides the fact it was Benemit's ball to get. Another player they can do without.

Last point...Marte is a left hand specialist. Marte is not meant to pitch a whole inning-this is why he lasted in the NL. SO, why is Joe over using his so much?

Sad to say...they are slipping away from the playoffs. Fire him? And get who? Willie Randolph?

  16. I don't think it is Girardi's fault, I blame the players. They NEED to do better in run support.
