I am 5'10'' 200lbs. Beginner-ish will primarily be surfing Pinellas County area of Florida with occasional trips to Cocoa Beach. ALSO, what about fin configuration? Fin size?

I am just looking to cruise and "relax surf" maybe learn to walk/nose ride eventually.

  1. I would get a finshape ion the 7'6" area. 2.5" thick and 20-21.5" wide. Three fins turn and keep speed whereas a single fin is more of a pivot turn and takes longer to get the feel for (My opinion)

Here's a board size chart link below... hope it helps.

  2. when you go to the shop to buy it those people are experts and will know exactly what you need

  3. if you want a 9' board, you could always get one custom shaped for your abilities, type of surfing you do, and the surf breaks you'll usually be at, etc.

for what it's worth, i'm 5'10" and about 150 lbs and the longboard i ride is 8'6", 22 5/8", 2 3/4" and has a 10" inch center box fin with fcs side fins. it's called a 2x1 fin set-up which allows you to interchange the side fins and center fin which is nice
