  1. Go to your local bike shop, and make sure you are fitted for the bike. Depends on your budget what would be recommended. Personally any Giant, Trek or Raleigh are reasonably priced and mechanics don't mind servicing and repairing them.

  2. It depends on how much you are willing to spend, and if you plan on doing any other riding.

Personally, I would go for a norco. They are quality bikes, and a nice ride.

I would reccomend check your phonebook and visiting a few local bike stores. They will help you find the bike that would fit your needs and price range.

    Good luck!

  3. I think TREK has some nice bikes that are designed for women.  They are WSD (Women Specific).  In the Trek line they have a 7.3 that sells for just over $400.  You will want a carbon fork.  If I had a girlfriend that is what I would reccomend to her.  I just got a SoHo 3.0 a few weeks ago LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.  I am in for a grand, but it is true love.

  4. A lot depends on your budget and how much you will ride.  If you dont ride much, the cheapies at any hardware or dept. store will work ok.    If you plan to ride a lot, visit a bike shop and play on spending about 300 or a bit more for a hybrid or fitness bike with 700c wheels, which are bigger than mountain bike wheels and will get you around easier.
