I want a Gecko where do I start??

Question

I have a bearded dragon, and when he got older i put him into a bigger tank, and now i have a tank spare! it is 18"x18x18". I want a gecko but i dont know where to start!!

What do i feed them (crickets if so what size)?

What tempratures does it need to be at?

What kinda of heat source do i need?

and What kinda lights do i need?

Can anyone help?

Well first decide on what kind of gecko you want there are tons of different species out there not all require the same things. once you decide what you want just google what ever it is and go through as many care sheets as you can go with what matches up the most not all care sheets are correct so dont just read one.

There's a lot of info out there you just have to do a little work and read it.  The site at the bottom is a good place to start.  Before I got mine I read every care sheet I could find.  Any site that sells them, and there are many, will have a care sheet.  Forums are also a good place to find more, especially the little things or the what-ifs that may not be included but that other people have gone through.  No site is going to have the perfect care sheet, it'll be thorough and if you follow it you probably won't encounter any problems, but I wouldn't base everything just on one site. I still learn new things all the time.  You'll soon get an idea of what the basic needs are but beyond that its mostly personal preference.  The best advice I can give you is like I said: get all the information you can.

a leopard gecko can live in that cage they eat adult crickets when full grown obviously babys would need something smaller. also for variety you can give them meal worms and wax worms. thy need a heating pad thats around 90. no specific lighting, they do need day/night cycles however heat lamps and bright lights hurt their eyes(they are nocturnal) other then that thats about it plus they need a water dish and hides etc...
