  2. If you're looking for a program, I'd just use Audacity. It's a free program you can easily find on the web, just search on google. But if you need mics and a mixer, you're going to have to be ready to spend a bit. I would recommend looking on www.musiciansfriend.com for mixers in your price range. There are tons of package deals that come with all the mics and cables you need to get started. I got mine for about $150 and that included 2 microphones and the XLR cables for them along with an 8 channel mixer with a USB connection to the computer. One thing i would definitely recommend, though, is two mic stands. I didn't get them and it's awful trying to find good spots to place a microphone while recording. The stands are a must, trust me! I'd say for your purposes a small mixer, like a 5 track would probably work.

Here are a few links to helpful pages:

-mixers within a 25-50 dollar range

-microphone, cable and stand package, $19.99

These two links should cover just about anything you'll need to get started, and the price will be under $100.

    Good luck and have fun!

  3. Inexpensive digital audio recorders are available everywhere now - Walmart, Target, Radio Shack etc
