We all know there are sick people out in this world, and I wanted to start to look for babysitting jobs, just for some extra money while I go to college (a real job right about now would be too much stress), I looked at Newsday but I didnt get anything..Ive been trying to look online for ads of who needs a babysitter, I get all these weird sites Ive never even heard of, I guess they seem real, but how do you trust someone you have never even met that its real? I dont wanna set up something with someone, go to the house, then its like a 50 year old man that drags me into his basement and kills me (sorry to be graphic but thats what goes on in this world).. and its vise verse too, if I post up an ad instead saying "need a babysitter, call me" or whatever, people can do the same thing no? Does anyone know of a real/trusting website or a good newspaper to look at? Or is there anything I can do to avoid being abducted by a sicko or something along those lines..lol

thanks

  1. Try babysitting services. My wife worked for Seeking Sitters (seekingsitters.com) for a while and loved it. They run background checks on all their clients and employees. One thing that my wife loved was that you don't always have to go to the same house. You get to watch a variety of kids. (get used to being called 'The Nanny' though)

  2. Nope you can be sure of anything these days but ask around from family members and friends maybe somebody they work with or  a friend of theirs have a friend that needs a babysitter that way you do have some trust that they aren't some sickos trying to kill you.

  3. a good idea could be putting up flyers at local churches or at places where you personally know the people. tell your neighbors. and friends who have younger siblings stuff like that. i wouldnt babysit for anybody that you dont know or someone that a friend/family member knows well. ur right. creepy things do happen. or arrange a meet and greet at a public place with whoever you are going to sit for before you go to their house to see if you still want to do it.

  4. If  you are realy that paranoid, then you should find another way to make money.  I know, for a fact, that I wouldn't want to leave my child with someone that is as paranoid as you seem to be!

  5. Ask your friends or anyone that you trust if they know anyone who needs a babysitter, you would be surprised how word gets around and someone gets in touch with you, also if you do get a call take someone (a friend, family member) to the interview..

  6. Try care.com... Many people use this service now to hire help.
