I want a bicycle that has disk brakes in the front and back, has an 18 speed gear ratio and is under $250Help?

Could you give a link or name. It could be more $ if it has to be. It needs to be a mountain bike.

Most bikes would be 27 speed now. You are not going to find disc brakes on a for under $250. You may find a used bike with disc brakes at that price. This is as close as I could find:

You are going to have to look for a used bike. If you found something new at that price, it would not be something you would want to ride.

I think the Specialized Hard Rock Disk or Giant Yukon on the cheaper bikes that would be decent. I'm not sure where they start in price though.

Ummm, 18 gear drivetrains are almost obsolete- only the very cheapest bikes have them anymore. You will more likely find disc equipped bikes with 24 or more gears.

If you want a true mountain bike with front and rear discs you'll need to spend at LEAST $600 or more and at this price you would get a bike intended for riding on smoother trails- maybe up to baby head sized boulders and rain ruts- no jumping, ramping, or drops.

If you are just looking for a bike to ride around the neighborhood and want discs to look cool I suggest that you forget the discs, walk into your local bike shop, and talk with them about what is available in your price range..

I would check craigslist.com

look for a city near you and ask around on the website

(I think they have a section on bikes)

maybe someone near your town can recommend a good store- if they don´t have one sell themselves
