i already have a baby cockatail but my mom is allergic so i need to take it back and buy a new bird. I am inbetween two tropical ones because they have limited dust. Either a pocket parrot [[parrolet]] or a Conure. Both are very pretty and both have been handfed from bith so they are trained and friendly.

i cant choose help me pick!! anything i should know about either bird before making a purchase???

=] thanks.

  1. I have Conures are very loud so if your Mom and you don't mind the noise I guess you can get one.  I personally wouldn't own one though even if they do look beautiful.  I don't think I know what a pocket parrot is sorry can't help you there.

  2. I really don't think a Conure or parrolet would be right for you. They both give off dust and Conures can be excessively loud.

Almost every type of bird gives off dust, but a breed to steer clear of is definitely the Cockatoo, because they have the worst dust problems of all. A finch or canary would be a good choice, as they don't give off nearly as much dust as the larger birds or parrot species, and they are also very pretty and wonderful singers. But these do not do well with finger training, so if you want a bird you can hold daily, these are not the birds for you.

Other than that I cannot think of any other birds that would work for you. I'm sorry!

But if you do decide to purchase a finch or canary, they are very entertaining to watch and listen to!

  3. i would have a hard time deciding which one to. If you want to teach it to talk then choose a conure because parrotlets have tiny voices that are hard to hear but conures don't.

  4. THe Conures are LOUD, id go with the parrolet,or a budgie ,or english budgie.,I Love Budgies ,and they can talk too esp, the males:) Good luck.

  5. I like Conures

  6. chances are your mom will be allergic to them to try a fish

  7. You shouldn't get a bird! if your mom is allergic to the cockatiel, then she's (unfortunately) allergic to all birds.

    Sorry.

Get a Betta Fish. My brother has one and he's easy to take care of. All you need is a little glass vase, put water in it, put conditioning in the water, put the fish in and give it Betta food.

He's a helpful little guy. He eats all the mosquito Larvae when we put him in a small bucket with water and mosquito larvae.

If you have two smallish Glass vases, get two Betta Fish. DON'T PUT THEM TOGETHER!! They'll X-terminate each other.

Now you know enough to own a farm of Betta Fish!! (which I wouldn't advise).

    Hope I Could've Helped!
